The Batten School is housed in Garrett Hall, centrally-located on the Grounds of the University of Virginia. Our building was first opened in 1908, and served as the University’s main dining hall for students and faculty. When Newcomb Hall opened in the 1950’s, Garrett Hall was used for office space and eventually housed the College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. After the generous gift of Frank Batten Sr. that helped establish the Batten School, Garrett Hall underwent major renovations, and opened as the home of Batten in 2011.
Our mission is to provide state-of-the-art spaces for all Batten students, faculty, and staff to collaborate, brainstorm, and shape the future. We offer day-to-day support of the spaces, and also manage reservations and event set-up. Our main goal is to ensure that each space functions optimally, and offers Batten users an unrivaled experience.
